Doctor McAwesome is the humble carefree SEO abode of me, Brian Wood. I’ve been doing SEO for close to a decade both in-house and agency. I’ve worked on dozens of sites from B2B to local to ecommerce and currently work in the enterprise end of SEO.
However, I also maintain several of my own sites to keep my hands in the SEO world where most of the internet lives, so I still know what it’s like for those who have to actually work for their rankings.
The purpose of this blog is mostly to create a place to send all the people who ask me where they can go to learn SEO, or just learn more about it. These are often friends and co-workers.
There are a lot of sites with a lot of great information on SEO, but unfortunately there aren’t a lot of places with a well-organized learning path. Instead they tend to be blogs supported by ad revenue that need to post constantly to maintain their pageviews, greatly lowering the signal to noise ratio. I don’t really care a lot whether anyone reads this site, I’m not monetizing it and I’m not linkbuilding to it, so I should be able to avoid the garbage “5 Tips to Blah” posts.
This site is currently a work in progress. I update it fits and bursts in spare time, and hope to complete everything in the School of SEO section sometime soon.
So what makes it McAwesome?
I’m not trying to sell you anything, I’m not trying to get you to click lots of pages to load lots of ads, and I’m not trying to get you to sign up for my newsletter that will change your life and make you rich. In fact, I don’t care if you read on or not. I’m just trying to write up how SEO works and what things really matter when optimizing a site without all the bullshit.
In the world of the internet, I think that’s a pretty awesome deal.
